Raymond Byrne (Researcher)
Raymond joined the Centre for Renewable Energy as a researcher in April 2005. He received a degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from NUIG in 1995 and, after working in industry in Ireland and overseas, an M.Sc. in Renewable Energy Systems from Loughborough University, UK in 2004. Raymond is the Irish delegate to IEA and IEC small wind committees.

Paul MacArtain (Research Manager)
Paul completed his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry in the National University of Ireland, Dublin in 2004. He worked in industry until appointment as project manager to CREDIT in 2006. His research interests include natural polysaccharides specifically from marine algae and conversion to energy. Paul is the Chairman of the board of the East Border Region Low Carbon Business Network.

Niall McMahon (Centre Director)
Niall has worked in academia and industry; most recently, he was a senior engineer with Ampair. He holds a Ph.D. in computational modelling from Dublin City University and a degree in mechanical engineering from Trinity College Dublin. Niall is the director of the Centre and sits on IWEA’s small- and medium-sized wind committee. You can read more here.
